Nunokawa was born on February 11, 1947 in the city of Sakata. He started his career in animation as a colorist. His first works were in Space Boy Soran (1965) and robotan (1966). Thus, she worked at Mushi Productions until it was later dissolved.

Interestingly, he was asked to be part of the founding team of Soeisha (not to be confused with Shueisha), a company that would eventually become Bandai Namco Filmworks or Sunrise. Instead, he decided to become a character designer at Tatsunoko Productions in 1971.
