SHANKS AND BAGGY
Shanks and Buggy served on Roger’s Crew since their childhood and constantly fought against each other. Ironically, in their youth, Buggy accused Shanks for being too naive and innocent to one day become a pirate, but Shanks is a great pirate today while Buggy and his crew pale in comparison. Due to Shanks’ sudden but accidental actions, Buggy lost a treasure map and ate the Bara Bara no Mi by mistake, which rendered him unable to swim. Buggy has developed a certain grudge since then.
However, despite their constant bickering, Shanks didn’t hesitate to save Buggy after he nearly drowned, meaning that Shanks at least considers Buggy his friend, even if it’s not reciprocated. It remains to be seen whether they will be able to keep their childhood promise to visit this island.

Roger). The pair agreed that Luffy would return the hat to him when he became a Great Pirate, a promise they both took very seriously.. Luffy defends the Straw Hat at the risk of his life, and upon arriving at Marineford, Shanks was not ready to accept the Hat’s return.
Luffy said that although Shanks is his idol, he had better bring him down too, because the red-haired man is one of the Four Emperors and therefore prevents him from becoming the Pirate King.
