It is a fact that Netflix is working on a version of One Piece with real actors. It is a project that became official a couple of years ago and of which few details existed. That changed today, since Netflix leaked the cast of this production and the surprise is that Monkey D. Luffy will be played by a Mexican.
What happens is that an official Netflix account made a post on Twitter revealing the cast of One Piece. Soon after, the post was removed, but it lasted long enough for people to get to know the main cast.
In case you missed it: Netflix wants to ruin another anime: it will make a live-action version of Yu Yu Hakusho that will arrive in 2023
The images revealed that Iñaki Godoy, a Mexican actor, will star in the series by playing Monkey D. Luffy. In case you don’t know him, the young actor has appeared in Who Killed Sara?, a Netflix original production.
The rest of the cast is made up of a cast of international actors. For example, Mackenyu (Pacific Rim: Uprising) will be the one who asks Roronoa Zoro. On the other hand, Jacob Gibson from Greenleaf and Grey’s Anatomy will be responsible for interpreting Usopp. It was also announced that Emily Rudd (Fear Street) will be Nami and Agatha Raisin’s Taz Skylar will appear as Sanji.
It doesn’t hurt to remind you that Netflix published and removed this information. So, it doesn’t hurt to take it with a grain of salt. After all, there is a possibility that it was removed because of some kind of bug or something similar. We will be pending and we will inform you when we know more about it. (UPDATE: Netflix already confirmed that the cast is real)
