news culture After One Piece and My Hero Academia, Netflix announces the live action of another cult manga! Fans react strongly!
Netflix has just announced a new film adapted in live action from a cult manga and anime!
Netflix regularly produces manga and anime adaptations famous in series or in live action films. A new time, the platform announces an adaptation of this type.
Nicky Larson will be adapted into a film by Netflix
Nicky Larsonaka City Hunter, is a manga and anime which has already been adapted live action movie, in France ! Indeed, Philippe Lacheau and his gang had adapted the Nicky Larson anime into a live-action film titled Nicky Larson and Cupid’s Perfume in 2018. The film had achieved a small feat, being quite popular with anime fans, since he had succeeded in illustrating its essence. Nicky Larson was an already quite particular anime, mixing romance, comedy, actionbut in addition it was the adaptation of the anime of the 1980s, already itself adapted in a rather comical way in French version. This time, Netflix seems more inclined to offer an adaptation close to the manga of origin.

A Japanese team in the production of the film

We should therefore find the classic manga charactersin this film produced and performed by an all-Japanese team. Directed by Yūichi Satōthe film will notably feature actor Ryohei Suzuki as Ryo Saeba (Nicky Larson in VF). We don’t have at the moment no details of the rest of the film’s castbut we suspect that the majority of known characters from manga and anime will be part of it.
I am thrilled to play Ryo Saeba and feel a great responsibility to portray this legendary and beloved character created by Tsukasa Hojo. I can’t wait for Ryo Saeba fans to experience his fun and action-packed adventures in modern Tokyo. Our goal is to find the right balance between realism and fantasy, as well as tones of the 80s and today.

“Nicky Larson fears no one” … except a Netflix adaptation?
the film will bring Nicky Larson’s action to the modern world. Indeed, the origin story was set in the 1980s, but Netflix informed fans that this film would be set in the Reiwa era, in other words, today. The release of the film is scheduled for the year 2024.
Obviously, fans and followers of the platform doubt. Not only because Nicky Larson is a rather particular manga, of which it is difficult to bring out the essence without falling into the kitsch or the vulgar, but also … because they have examples to present! It’s not not the first time that Netflix has released a live adaptation of a manga or an animeand it often gave a result at best average, at worst catastrophic. As when announcing the live adaptation of My Hero Academia by Netflix, subscribers expressed skepticism on social networks.
No one is asking for awful live action renditions of things that are already great

Well, Nicky Larson is clearly not the most unsuitable manga, but something is really going to have to be done against Netflix executives who want to live-operate all manga. Leave them alone, they radiate very well without your usual dung… 🥲 https://t.co/oDtJVHwic4
