This year is special for the work One Piece, which celebrated its 1,000th chapter and is preparing to do the same for the 1,000th episode of theanime, in addition to having seen his volume 100 appear. Furthermore, a serial adaptation live-action for Netflix is more than ever on the way. But that’s not all, because the Toei Animation intends to send us back to theaters once again for a 15th feature film ! The ad leaked ahead of time, as material was discovered via the “http://onepiece-film.jp” domain, and there is much to be excited about. the one who will be called One Piece Film RED !
As reported on the Web, we are therefore entitled to an unequivocal logo where the “D” is scratched, immediately reminiscent of the scar of Shanks le Roux. Scheduled for a release in Japan on August 6, 2022, this original story is described as follows by Eiichirō Oda, who will again take on a role of producer and supervisor:
We’re making a movie! “RED”!
I’m sick of drawing legendary old men in the movies! I want to draw a new female character! Here is the current character on which we are working (reference to the young woman present in the background on the visuals, Editor’s note)! And that’s how it all started. Doesn’t that appear to be the opposite of One Piece? Also, did you know that director Gorō Taniguchi, director of this movie, was actually the first person in the world to animate Luffy? Well. We have much more news that will really surprise you in the future. This is the new movie, RED! Hope you are looking forward to it and try to imagine how it will be!
The other two messages are from Gorō Taniguchi and Tsutomu Kuroiwa, the latter being the film’s screenwriter. It should not be long before we have the formalization of this One Piece Film RED, to see if more details emerge.
Update : it’s now official and the announcement is accompanied by a teaser video obviously confirming the involvement of Shanks and a visual with the young woman already mentioned!
The previous feature film, One Piece Stampede, can be purchased on DVD to the Fnac for € 9.99.
