Luffy and Law are the pirate version of Garp and Sengoku, we explain

On Punk Hazard, Law formed an alliance with Luffy to defeat Kaido.. Despite their opposing views on what an alliance is supposed to be, their relationship is ultimately positive. Law puts up with Luffy’s antics and reluctantly respects him. Luffy, himself, is very fond of Law and is openly flippant with him despite his serious demeanor.

Law seems to have some doubts about Luffy’s trustworthiness and carefree attitude. Although Law indicated that he wanted to ‘use’ Luffy when forming the alliance due to the Straw Hats’ great unpredictability and ambition, he feels more like being used. During the Wano Country arc, the only thing that deeply worries Law is Luffy’s tendency to get into trouble and complicate his plans.

Whatever, Law has deep trust in Luffy.which is not characteristic of the strictly professional relationship he originally intended to establish with the crew.

People often like to compare Luffy and Law to Roger and Whitebeard.but there is in fact a much closer and more interesting parallel, which is that of Garp and Sengoku.

  • Garp is the Luffy’s grandfather and Sengoku is the figure of Law’s grandfather by connection (Sengoku was Rosinante’s father figure, who was Law’s father figure).

  • They share the same dynamic in their personality and humor. Luffy/Garp are reckless and recklesswhile Law/Sengoku are serious and tactical.
Aged Sengoku and Garp
  • Luffy and Law are allies rather than rivalsthe same way Garp and Sengoku were partners.

If you think about it, Luffy and Law are pretty much what Garp and Sengoku would have been if they were pirates.
