Mexican to star in live action of ‘One Piece’ for Netflix

Netflix already found the actors who will participate in the live action from one of the most watched animated series of all time: ‘One Piece’. Among them is the young Mexican actor Iñaki Godoy who will play Luffy the king of pirates.

A little less than a year ago, in 2020, Netflix announced the project. A news that was received with great uncertainty for the millions of followers that ‘One Piece’ has around the world since Netflix has not been characterized by offering good adaptations of comics.

For many, ‘One Piece’, is a great reference of popular culture. The creation series Eiichirō Oda is from most popular in the world of anime and manga.

The above was reflected when a few months ago the first chapters arrived of production that quickly settled between the most seen in Mexico and other countries.

the same Eiichirō Oda will be involved as executive producer of this series. Other talented figures like Steven Manda y Matt Owens, recognized for their work in ‘Luke Cagé’ y ‘The Defenders’, of the series of Marvel para Netflix, will also accompany the creator in production.

Surprising many, Netflix finally announced the cast of young actors who will give life to the characters from ‘One Piece’, being the mexican Iñaki Godoy in charge of having the main role.

With a career that stands out in some films such as ‘Don’t open the door’, ‘Courage, youth!’ and recently an interpretation in the series ‘Who killed Sara?’, the actor now embarks on a major character with Luffy, the king of pirates.

According to the adventures of the animated series, Luffy investigates a fantastic world To find the biggest pirate treasure and become the supreme king.

Through social networks both Netflix as Iñaki Godoy released the news. The rest of the casting is complemented by actors from different nationalities, among which stand out Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Taz Skylar y Jacob Romeo Gibson.

Yet there is no tentative date so that we can see the flesh and blood version of ‘One Piece’ arrive with these characters at Netflix catalog, so surely more surprises are on the way.
