Kaido is one of the Yonko, also known as the Four Emperors, from the world of One Piece. In his day he was a member of the Pirates of the Rocks, but over time Kaido reached great heights when he founded the Pirates of the Beasts and became the strongest man in the entire world of One Piece.
Being a Yonko, it goes without saying that Kaido is incredibly powerful and one of the most important characters, especially in the Wano Country arc. However, there are quite a few things that just don’t make sense about him right now.
8 Kaido’s race has yet to be explained to fans
Kaido is one of the most intriguing characters in One Piece simply because of their race. Kaido is known to be not a human, which is evident from his size and horns. In fact, people like Marco and even Kaido himself have referred to Kaido’s species as Oni. What exactly the Oni race is is still unknown. Kaido might have a possible connection to Oars’ race, but they share very few similarities other than their horns. So far, this is one of the most mysterious aspects of Kaido’s character.

7 Kaido’s origin is shrouded in mystery
Kaido is a very strange creature in the world of One Piece. As already explained, it is of the Oni type and does not belong to any of the main known races in history. At the same time, its origins are also unknown. Kaido is certainly not from Wano and Onigashima Castle was not built that long ago. This seems to imply that Kaido hails from a place that fans have yet to see. However, this place remains a mystery even though we are so far into the Wano Country arc.
6 it’s unclear why Kaido is in Wano
Kaido is undoubtedly one of the most important characters in the Wano Country arc, being its main antagonist. In fact, he is the most important villain for Luffy thus far, as he has been built since Punk Hazard and has been slowly growing in history over the years. However, it doesn’t make sense that Kaido specifically chose Wano.
In his fight against Yamato, Kaido hinted that he cannot leave Wano and that it is the only country in which he will reside. So far no reason has been given for this.
5 Kaido could enter into business relations with the World Government
Some of the greatest elements of Kaido’s forces are the beasts known as the Numbers. As Big Mom explains, the Numbers are the World Government’s failed experiments to give rise to the Ancient Giants once again. For whatever reason, Kaido ended up buying these failed experiments and gave them a place in his crew. It is unknown how Kaido was able to trade with the World Government. Being a pirate, Kaido shouldn’t have any relationship with the World Government, at least not good enough to allow him to buy things from them.
4 Kaido has lost seven matches in his entire life
Kaido is one of the strongest people in the world of One Piece, if not the strongest. Following his introduction in Chapter 795 of the story, it was revealed to fans that Kaido was a monstrous creature that no one could defeat in a single match. At the same time, Kaido is known to have lost seven battles in his life. Now this is not a surprise, as the matches he lost were probably not individual matches, but Kaido’s respect for those he fought indicates that he measured his strength personally. If you lost to them, it doesn’t make sense that you always win the singles matches.
3 the Navy has not executed Kaido for his skin
Kaido is an incredibly tough pirate. Its durability is due to the power of the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu, a mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit that gives it the ability to turn into an oriental dragon. Kaido’s scales are extremely tough due to the powers of his Devil Fruit, but it’s not that he can’t be defeated. The Navy has defeated him in the past and even tried to execute him, but due to his skin, no weapon has been able to kill him.
This doesn’t make much sense, as the sea prism stone should have nullified his powers and allowed them to kill him. If it somehow didn’t work out for him, then Kaido could have been executed by the likes of Garp and Sengoku.
2 Kaido doesn’t have many scars on his body
In his entire life, Kaido has only received a scar from Kozuki Oden when they fought 20 years ago. Although this shows that Kaido is actually very tough, it doesn’t make sense at the same time. Kaido has been captured by the Navy and the Four Emperors 18 times and has lost 7 battles in his life. Those who defeated him would have undoubtedly hurt him in battle, and since they are Yonko and Admirals, they would certainly have left their mark. However, Kaido only wears a scar, which was later enlarged by Roronoa Zoro in Wano.
1 Kaido’s bounty should be higher than it is now
Kaido currently has the highest known active bounty in One Piece, with 4,611,100,000 berries. Although this reward is very high, it is not high enough. Shanks, who became a Yonko only six years ago, has a bounty of 4,048,900,000 berries. He hasn’t been a pirate for as long as Kaido. Furthermore, Kaido is very dangerous and his entire crew is beastly in nature, making him a much greater threat to the World Government. That his reward is so close to Shanks’s makes very little sense. In any case, Kaido’s reward should be around 5 billion berries.
