One Piece: Eiichiro Oda’s manga passes a historic milestone and holds this new record

A few weeks ago, we introduced you this revelation major ofEiichiro Odathe famous creator of the equally famous manga One Piece, concerning the year of the end of his already cult work. And today fans were able to learn that the manga just beat this new record impressive, again entering the Guinness World Records.

Pre-published since 1997 in the weekly magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump of the Shueisha, One Piece has become a true monument of manga, all over the world. Eiichiro Oda’s work has also grown enormously in popularity with its anime adaptation produced by Toei Animationallowing the work to rise to the top alongside the greatest, like naruto or dragonball.

And today, One Piece continues to write manga history, proving that it is indeed the best-selling manga in the world. Indeed, an announcement confirms that the manga series has exceeded 500 million copies in print (physically) and sold (numerically) in the world, becoming the first manga series to pass this milestone. The official Twitter account of One Piece announced the news as the 103rd volume of the manga was released in Japan, taking into account the 3 million copies of the first printing of this volume.

As reported Crunchyrollto offset this figure of more than “500 million copies”, more than 410 million copies, physical or digital, come from Japan alone, making it the best-selling manga of all time in its country alone. In addition, there are nearly 100 million copies, shared in 60 countries and territories around the world. This means that the manga has actually sold more than 510 million copies worldwide.

Moreover, the title of “the comic book series with the most copies published by a single author” of the Guinness Book of Records, already obtained by Eiichiro Oda in 2015this time has been updated with the latest figures for the physical release in Japan, i.e. 416,566,000 copies in July 2022. For the occasion, Oda received a new certificate, which can be seen on the image below with Weekly Shonen Jump editor Hiroyuki Nakano. Oda also holds the title for the “most copies published for the same manga series”.
