One Piece Netflix: an actor for Shanks

Teased throughout the past week, the One Piece News Coo Online broadcast took place today. A program available in Japanese but also in English during which the two presenters unveiled announcements related to the One Piece universe. The first, quite brief, returned to the live-action series produced by Netflix and which is in the middle of filming. Actors lending their features to the members of Luffy’s crew were announced a while ago, while supporting characters have had their comedians revealed recently as Kobby, Garp or Lady Aribda.

Today, it is not six new actors but only one who has been revealed but he is well worth the previous six since we know today who will play Shanks on the screen: it is Peter Gadiot, a 36-year-old British actor. It is in a short video that he announces that he is honored to take on the role of Shanks Le Roux:

One Piece Red: the villain revealed?

Regarding Shanks, this is not the only announcement made around the character since the One Piece News Coo Online also returned to One Piece Red. It is an animated film expected on August 22, 2022 centered on Shanks le Roux, a protagonist with strong ties to Luffy. During today’s event, an official poster was released featuring a character whose features we saw in the first trailer. The poster highlights a duality between the pink and white colors that the character wears and whose logo we seem to see behind his silhouette. Enemy or friend? It’s hard to say, but we’d rather lean towards the former given the translation: “Luffy, give up the life of a pirate.“. In any case, we will have to wait for more information to know more about the link between her, Luffy and his comrades, and Shanks.

One Piece Odyssey

And the final bouquet of the announcement was obviously the game One Piece Odyssey revealed. Developed by Ilca and published by Bandai Namco, the game is expected this year on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series and PC. Luffy’s crew are shipwrecked on an unknown island with ancient ruins and are greeted by a character never seen in the main story. Regarding this, the plot of One Piece Odyssey is an original story by manga author Eiichiro Oda.

On the gameplay side, One Piece Odyssey is described as a JRPG (Japanese Role Playing Game). If we can expect a turn-based combat system, we will need more information about it. Producer Tsuzuki Katsuaki revealed that the characters will unveil their skills as the year progresses.
