A video posted online in the afternoon by the platform presents the gigantic sets of the series’ flagship locations. The reconstruction work is impressive: the sets imagined by Eiichiro Oda are reproduced very faithfully.

The identity of the five actors chosen to embody the “Mugiwaras”, aka the Straw Hat crew, is already known: Iñaki Godoy (Luffy), Mackenyu (Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Romero Gibson (Usopp) and Taz Skylar (Sanji).

We now know the rest of the cast: Steven Ward (Dracule Mihawk), Alexander Maniatis (Klahadore), Craig Fairbrass (Chef Zeff), Langley Kirkwood (Morgan), Celeste Loots (Kaya) and Cgioma Umeala (Nojiko).

A first season of ten episodes is planned. It will retrace the “East Blue Saga” arc, i.e. the first twelve volumes of the manga. Steven Maeda (X Files, lost)is the showrunner, screenwriter and producer of this ambitious adaptation.

We still do not know the release date of this series, but Eiichiro Oda wants to be confident and asked his fans to take their troubles patiently: “It will take a little while before the series is ready, but we will continue to do our best to make a series that is entertaining for everyone!”

First published in 1997, One Piece tells the incredible adventures of Luffy, a young man who acquired the properties of rubber after swallowing a devil fruit.

With his crew, he seeks to get his hands on the treasure of Gol D. Roger, the “One Piece”, to become the next king of the pirates. The manga, still as popular after twenty-four years, reached the 1,000th chapter published this year.
