One Piece: Netflix unveils the cast of the Straw Hat crew!

Huge publishing box and a real cultural phenomenon, the One Piece manga will finally be adapted into a TV series. And of course, it’s Netflix that sticks to it by announcing the first members of the cast.

Netflix is ​​heavily reliant on live-action manga and anime adaptations: of course, Cowboy Bebop is expected on November 19, but also the future series Avatar: The Last Airbender. The platform is also preparing another big piece, namely the adaptation of One Piece, the manga of Eiichirō Oda launched in 1997 and whose success is undeniable. It is quite simply the best-selling manga in the world, ahead of Dragon Ball.

A lot of adaptation work

Netflix is ​​turning the tables upside down with the casting announcement for the Straw Hat crew, the manga’s main group. Iñaki Godoy will be Monkey D. Luffy, captain of this team whose dream is to become the pirate king. The Mexican actor is known for his role in the soap Who Killed Sara? (Who killed Sara?).

Mackenyu will play Roronoa Zoro, the three saber swordsman who wants to become the best in his discipline. Emily Rudd will be Nami, expert navigator in cartography and weather, Jacob Romero Gibson will be Usopp the coward who wants to transform himself into a valiant warrior of the seas. Finally, Taz Skylar will slip into the shoes of the cook Sanji. An interesting and diverse cast for this crew who will have to find their place in a world dominated by the oceans.

And that’s not all, Netflix has also taken care to embark Eiichirō Oda in the adventure: he will participate in the development of the series, the first season of which will include ten episodes. The author warns, however, that it will take time to see One Piece on the small screen, adaptation will obviously require a lot of work. Obviously, it is not known when the series will be online.
