Although a few months ago we were able to see the announcement of One Piece Odyssey as the next great game in the franchise developed by bandai namcothe Japanese company has just announced new information about the title through its official page, updated very recently with new screenshots and details about the exploration, the battle system and the characters, as well as explaining the gameplays seen in the reveal trailer.
Unlike other installments of the past, One Piece Odyssey will be a full-fledged JRPG: The gameplay of the Bandai title will be roughly divided into two parts, one of adventure and highly entertaining battles, and the other of a traditional turn-based JRPG.
Exploration with the Nakama
During parts of exploration of the game, players will be able to control the different pirate members of the Straw Hat crew, each of whom has their own unique abilities. The use of in-game items such as Luffy’s rubber properties or Franky’s craft skills They will allow you to advance through the island and solve its most hidden mysteries.
Zoro will be able to cross obstacles with his sword, Chopper can fit in small or narrow places and Luffy will mark Spiderman’s while Franky can build objects such as bridges, as seen in the screenshots that we have seen in the Japanese page.
Old school combat modes
The game combines the classics turn-based combat systems but with the odd addition that makes the difference, as players will need to fully utilize the Straw Hat Pirates to achieve victory. Several key battle system elements have been introduced, though keep in mind that the names of these mechanics will likely be localized differently in Western versions of the game, so we’ll have to wait for an official confirmation from Bandai Namco. Europe or the West.
Each character has a different attribute, and each of his abilities has different ranges and properties. For example, Zoro has a specific attribute for the Onigiri: Something like “Technique”. Everything indicates that each ability has a different attribute and that the enemies will be strong or weak for certain attributes. Looking at the screenshots, we can also see that Luffy has a red attribute symbolized by a punch, while Nami and Ussop have a yellow attribute symbolized by a weapon.
We have also seen something like “dramatic scenes”, which appear to be an ultimate with a set activation time during battle. It is likely that they can be activated when you are faced with a difficult situation and give you a huge boost. For example, the screenshots show Nami being in danger because her HP is low, but for her counterpart, she triggers this dramatic scene where she gains defense buff.
We don’t know exactly when it will arrive, but what it does look like is that it will be a game exceptionally different from anything seen so far in the franchise.
