When is the One Piece Odyssey demo?
Bandai Namco offers players who wanttry a One Piece Odyssey preview a demo which is open to all players. It is already available on the following platforms PS4, PS5 and Xbox Series. Unfortunately, PC gamers will not be able to take advantage of this offer. This demo should last about two short hours and will be available until January 13. When browsing your gaming platform store (PS Store or Microsoft Store), you can easily find the demo by entering the One Piece Odyssey search bar.
If you wanted to buy the game after your little test session, you will be able to keep your progress when the game launches. But that’s not all, because a small reward will be given to the players who have played the demo: they will be given a golden jelly to start their adventure. Although it is unknown what it is, it will undoubtedly be useful for your adventure.
According to Katsuaki Tsuzuki, this demo would be a great way to get a first opinion on One Piece Odyssey. Thus, you can wander around the mysterious island of Waford, meet new people and observe the premises of the combat system that is heavily inspired by Dragon Quest. Thinking and strategy will be the keywords in this next title! However, as we told you just before, you will only have two short hours of gameplay, so not all features will be available. This demo, as its definition suggests, will only help you get a quick first impression of what One Piece Odyssey has in store.
What is the overall story of the game?
For those who would ask the question; the game was written in collaboration with Eiichiro Oda, Luffy’s father. However, it is not a direct sequel to the manga, quite the opposite. It’s more of an alternate history created specifically for this game (like Red). However, you will have the chance to relive important moments from One Piece history; in fact you will have to make some trips in the past to review certain Marineford or Alabastra events. But why ? Each of the crew members seems to have lost their powers, as well the Mugiwara must relive past events to find them.
In other words, new elements of the original story are likely to be explained in the game, we don’t know which ones, but some questions may find answers thanks to One Piece Odyssey. As a reminder, One Piece Odyssey will be available on January 13, 2023 on PS4, PS5 and Xbox Series. Note that you will have a small advantage on PC with a planned release date of January 12, 2023 on Steam.
