One Piece Reveals Nami, Zoro, and Sanji’s Devil Fruit Powers

Would Zoro have the same fruit as Kaido?

With the awakening of the devil fruits of Trafalgar Law and Eustass Kid, there have been expectations from their fans about what powers some mugiwara might have. For this, in volume 98 of SBS for One Piece, Eiichiro Oda, the creator of this work, revealed what powers of the devil fruits Nami, Zoro, Sanji would haveas well as many other members of the crew.

For his you didn’t know him, the SBS is a section in each volume of the One Piece manga that, between individual chapters, Oda takes the time to answer his fan mail, curious questions and unknowns that surround his manga. While many of his responses to fan questions may be tongue-in-cheek or silly, he often reveals some very interesting details about the One Piece world and characters, which make for some great reveals in the arcs to come.

On the other hand, in the world of One Piece, there are mysterious objects called Devil Fruits that grant supernatural powers to whoever eats them. However, in exchange for these powers, Devil Fruits cause their users to weaken when submerged in seawater or have some unexpected physique. While many of Luffy’s crew have eaten these fruits and are able to use their abilities, most have not.including many fan-favorite characters like Zoro, Sanji, and Nami.

The perfect devil fruit for the rest of Mugiwara in One Piece

As we mentioned, in One Piece volume 98, Oda answered a fan’s question about which Devil Fruits would best fit Zoro, Nami, Sanji, Usopp, and Franky. Usopp would receive the Pocket Pocket Fruit that would endow his body with infinite pockets, perfect for a sniper like him who needs places to store his ammunition. Franky would receive the Arms Arms Fruit which would allow him to turn any part of his body into a weapon, which is perfect for a cyborg who can already turn any part of his body into weapons. The fruit for Nami is the Rumble Rumble Fruit, which allows her navigator to wield the power of lightning. This fits well with his fighting style, as he uses a tool called Clima-tact to create controlled blasts of lightning in battle. Zoro and Sanji’s fruits are not that directly connected to their characters. Zoro would receive Mythical Fish Fish Fruit from Kaido, which allows its user to turn into a dragon and Sanji would receive Swim Swim Fruit, which allows its user to swim through solid surfaces such as the ground..

The reason why Zoro’s and Sanji’s fruits aren’t an ideal match for them comes down to the characters’ innate power levels.. They’re both already pretty strong fighters, so they don’t really need the extra powers a devil fruit would bring. In justifying his choice of Zoro’s fruit, Oda says that the fruit would not even be for Zoro, but for his sword, since it would be great if his sword could turn into a dragon. This is probably also why Oda didn’t assign a fruit to Jinbe, who is the last Straw Hat without one. This One Piece helmsman is also an incredibly skilled fighter and since his fighting style is most effective in water, a devil fruit could reduce his fighting ability due to the weakness to seawater it brings. .

It is unlikely at this point in the series that any of the aforementioned Straw Hats will acquire a Devil Fruit ability.. Oda usually likes to tie a character’s powers to their personal growth or backstories and suddenly acquiring a devil fruit can seem undeserved compared to how the Straw Hats have become. stronger before. However, this doesn’t take away from the fun of imagining the offshoots of Zoro, Nami, Sanji, and the other Straw Hats from One Piece acquiring these powers.
