One Piece Teases Joy Boy’s Surprise Connection With Latest Cliffhanger

One Piece dropped a notable hint about the mysterious Joy Boy with a major tease in the series’ final chapter cliffhanger! As the series continues to the climax of the final battles on Onigashima with the final manga chapters, fans have realized how much more important the island of Wano Country is to the history of the world as a whole. There have been major discussions from prominent characters in the series about Wano’s means to the rest of the world, and now the new chapter has tied another major legend to its events.

Joy Boy continues to be one of the most intriguing mysteries seen building over the course of One Piece as their actions during the Void Century had such an impact on the rest of the world that Kozuki Oden mentioned that the figure could end up returning 900 years after leaving their mark on the world. Now, the series has tied this famous figure directly to current events with the return of Zunesha, who Momonosuke Oden says was a sidekick to Joy Boy during the Void Century.

As previously revealed in previous chapters, Zunesha, the giant elephant carrying the Land of Zou on his back, headed towards the floating Onigashima. It’s something Momonosuke had noticed before, and it seems the two resonate much the same as before. Although we can’t see Zunesha in action in the series’ chapter 1040, Momonosuke confirms to Yamato that the elephant is nearby and reveals that he was a companion of Joy Boy who “committed a crime 800 years”.

It looks like Momonosuke wants Yamato to do something with Zunesha, but it’s unclear at the moment. What is remarkable is that thanks to the information in Oden’s journal and what Momonosuke can learn from Joy Boy’s true companion, Wano is even more important than ever to the mysteries of the world and the last island of Grand Line. Now it only remains to see how it all fits together.

But what do you think? What do you think this clue means for the Joy Boy mystery as a whole? What do you hope to see in Onigashima’s climax next?
