One Piece Theory Suggests Gear Fifth Is On The Way

A play has been around for decades now, and fans are all too ready to see how its current arc will end. Kaido and Big Mom have proven to be mad enemies for the Wano Saga, but the country’s rebellion doesn’t back down. In fact, the final chapters of the manga had fans wondering if Luffy was ready to get a new form of equipment. And now a new theory takes this idea even further if we are to believe it.

It all started when A play revisited Luffy as the captain continued his feud with Kaido. The two clash more fiercely than ever, and not too long ago Luffy sparked interest in Gear Five. After all, he told Kaido that he had reached his final Gear Four, and this new theory only doubles the fandom’s suspicions.

As you can see above, the theory started circulating on Twitter in Japan before making it to the United States. Fans put it all together after a recent panel showed Luffy in Gear Four calling out Kaido for depriving the people of Wano of their needs. If you look closely at his cheek in the panel, fans will see shaded lines, but Japanese fans believe there’s a hidden message in those lines.

Some of the shading appears to include the phrase “Gear Five” in hiragana. The text is written vertically and flipped in the actual manga. But if you try to isolate the text, you can find it as long as you know what to look for.

Obviously, this theory has sprouted wings as A play fans are curious about Luffy’s limits. He’s been using Gear Five for a while now, so it would make sense for Luffy to cap his current gear form. This theory suggests that Oda intentionally hid the phrase to prepare fans for Gear Five’s debut. And if that happens, well – Oda is as big as crazy as fans think.
