One Piece: this is all that is known about Luffy’s new devil fruit

How far will Luffy’s powers go in the next chapters?

Building Luffy’s character has not been an easy task for Eiichiro Oda. Especially because chasing a dream for so many chapters has led to a series of complications both for the character himself and due to the influence of other external conflicts. Although Luffy has been evolving since his first day in the adventure that he embarked on to become the King of the Pirates, there are certain details of our protagonist that it would be convenient to reconsider, especially since his powers have been more and more present in the Last chapters. As believed throughout the series, the Devil Fruit granted him the abilities that we know of the Captain so far, but what the readers of One Piece did not know was the dimension of the power that the Straw Hat hadApparently quite hidden. Or if there are other reasons why we just found out about his abilities coming from Hito Hito no Mi: Nika.

After years of considering that this hero would simply remain in the evolution of Gomu Gomu no Mi, this perspective has changed radically after the revelations of One Piece. In any case, if we expect the respective assigned powers of the Devil Fruit that Luffy ate years ago, we have seen an awakening very different from what was expected.

What are Luffy’s true powers?

We still do not have enough details to say that Luffy’s awakening could not bring other surprises, however, the good news is that we already have more explanations to know what is happening with the Straw Hat. The Hito Hito no Mi: Nika is a mythical Zoan fruit, whose power transforms whoever has consumed it into a “Sun God”. once you complete this process. Now, the Captain already had a rubbery body due to the Devil Fruit that he ate in his childhood. However, he still hadn’t acquired the abilities that Kaido discovered the hard way after their last confrontation.

As we mentioned before, there are not many details about this fruit, so we will have to discover it later, but if Eiichiro Oda has always been in charge of something, it has been to give important clues to his readers. For example, it is no secret that the World Government has been aggressively pursuing the origins of the Devil Fruit, and in fact, thanks to their failed attempts to track them down, the name Gomu Gomu no Mi became public knowledge. But the real reason why they wanted to hide the existence of the fruit is because of its link to freedom. Something that the World Government does not like very much.

How did Hito Hito no Mi come into Luffy’s hands?

It is known that the Devil Fruit has been in the sights of the authorities for almost 800 years in which its only objective has been to guarantee its own stability. And, although, The Hito Hito no Mi was no easy quest, the strategies of the Shanks crew paid off to ensure a successful heist. Hence Luffy could eat it. Unfortunately this has come to the attention of the World Government, since the existence of the incredible powers has aroused the interest and fear of the World Government, since it had not happened for centuries. In fact, this caused CP0, under orders from the authorities, to attempt to assassinate the Captain.

In short, Luffy represents a danger now more than ever to the interests of the World Government. And surely this will greatly complicate things for the Straw Hat, but his mastery of the Hito Hito no Mi and, consequently, the Fifth Gear that he has managed to unlock after awakening, will give him a great advantage over his enemies, especially against Kaido. Sooner or later One Piece will lead to this epic confrontation in which good will very possibly triumph.

Now that the Captain has become an opponent worthy of fear, the likes of which has never been seen before in the series, it will turn the tide of things. The Devil Fruit has given him not only a series of quite interesting powers, but it is also possible that in the future Eiichiro Oda will surprise us with what this beloved protagonist may be able to achieve.
