A theory has been floating around the One Piece sphere for weeks that Redhead Shanks is actually a super mastermind, who uses Luffy for his personal interests from the start. A theory that does not hold water. We explain why!
What if Shanks was actually a villain? It’s a whisper we’ve heard quite a bit since the revelation of the true identity of Gomu Gomu no Mi, the Hito Hito no Mi model Nika. A supposition that is based on the astonishment of the Gorosei, which takes place at the very moment of this awakening, the Gorosei giving us the name of this mythical fruit, which even one of the members did not know. And for part of the public, this capital information would simply come from Shanks le Roux, who asked to discuss “about a certain pirate”. A phrase interpreted after the fact as a reference to Luffy. Since then, there has been a theory that Shanks is a traitor, who from the beginning worked for his interests by stealing the devil fruit, having it eaten by Luffy, and waiting for him to wake up before throwing the Mugiwara to the lions (the World Government).
A theory without logic
However, if imagining such a devious scenario has something seductive, it is nonetheless quite whimsical. Even if Shanks was thought to be “evil,” what interest would he have in having someone else awaken the Devil Fruit? He cannot indeed seize his power, even if the possessor were to die, since the fruit would reappear at random elsewhere. And above all that he would once again be a “Gomu Gomu no Mi”, not yet awake. And if his goal was One Piece, sending the World Government to meet Luffy to kill each other would yield no information for the Rough Tell route, which is indicated by the 4 Road Poneglyphs, two of which are on Zou and Whole Cake Island, be away from the fight. Obviously without taking into account that all his former crew had already been to Rough Tale, he had only to ask them – Rayleigh for example – the way to get back there!
Blackbeard, topic of conversation
The reality is that Shanks must surely have intended from the start to give the devil fruit to the one he considered to be the potential future king of the pirates, the son of Gol D. Roger, namely Ace. But on his way, he fell in spite of himself on Luffy, and understood that the kid full of the future, it was him – as we told you. in a previous theory. As for the pirate discussed with the Gorosei, it seems obvious that it is Blackbeard, his mysterious triple personality power, and possibly even his ancestry, which could be Rocks D. Xebec!
