Earlier in the month, we revealed to you that one of the hosts of the series One Piece had announced that the sequel to the anime was going to be exceptional, thus promising that 2023 would be the year of the anime adapted from the famous manga byEiichiro Oda. And even more recently, we learned that Monkey D. Luffy and his universe were going to be honored once again, thanks to a event eagerly awaited by fans of the Straw Hat Pirates. We tell you everything.
the unmissable event for One Piece fans
For the rare people who would have missed out on the phenomenon that has become One Piecethe manga debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1997. Since then, mangaka Eiichiro Oda’s work has been considered a classic of the genre and for good reason., since it is the best-selling manga in the world, having notably exceeded 500 million copies sold last summer. A work that has also been the subject of an anime adaptation, produced since 1999 by Toei Animation.
One Piece has become so popular that it attracts many eyes, the franchise being thus brought to collaborate with various companies. We will think in particular of Netflix, which is preparing a live action series which should normally be released this year, or even McDonald’s, which recently made a partnership with the manga. And for fans who can’t wait to find out what’s next, they will be delighted to learn that an event entirely dedicated to Oda’s work will soon take place again.
Indeed, we recently learned that One Piece Day was going to come back this year, to the delight of pirate fans. This event is organized by Bandai Namco Entertainment, Shueisha and Toei Animation, and will take place from July 21 to 22, 2023 at Tokyo Big Sight, one of the largest convention halls in the Japanese capital.
This will therefore be the second edition of One Piece Daywhile the first edition which was held last year had in particular made it possible to discover a new trailer for the animated film One Piece: Red. Thus, many fans are eager to find out what will be the novelties presented during this One Piece Day 2023. An event which should therefore announce lots of new content from the franchise, whether for manga, anime, films, video games and other derivative products, and which can be followed live on YouTube.
Note that the date of this One Piece Day 2023 is far from trivial. Indeed, it was on July 22, 1997 that One Piece officially made its debut in the Shueisha magazine. A date that has been recognized as the official anniversary of the workthen dubbed “One Piece Day”, by the Japan Anniversary Association in 2017.
For the moment, we don’t know much about the event, except for a special screening of the film. One Piece Red is scheduled for the first day. More announcements should be featured on the site of the event in the coming weeks.
