Situating (in principle) after the events of the Wano arc recently published by Eiichiro Odathe film follows the entire Straw Hat gang made up of Luffy, zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, chopper, Nico Robin, Frankie, Brook Y Jimbei heading to Elegia, known for being the island of music.

The objective of the group is to attend the concert of uta, the number one singer in the world and much loved by everyone who is about to give what will be her first live concert. At the concert, Uta will appear in person for the first time in front of the public.

To the surprise of the Straw Hat gang and the pirates, marines and fans of the singer who have attended her concert, Luffy reveals that Uta is the secret daughter of Shanks. and that they met in childhood. Luffy stars in a nice musical movie

Unlike other films of the popular anime, One Piece Film Red is more of a musical feature film than an action-adventure movie.

Thus, throughout the film we find various songs performed by utawho is undoubtedly the central axis of the film.

The seiyû (Japanese dubbing actress) in charge of giving voice to the singer is Nazuka Kaoriwho has quite a bit of experience in the field of dubbing after having played numerous anime characters such as Maria Ross in Fullmetal Alchemist BrotherhoodTsubaki Nakatsukasa in Soul Eater or Yui Kotegawa in To Love-Ruto give some examples.

Of course song parts are highlights of One Piece Film Rednot only because Kaori Nazuka’s voice is beautiful, but also because of all the scenery that accompanies each one of them, highlighting the color and animation.

Nevertheless, what has been the plot of the film remains more secondarybeing more of an excuse to show off the singer and not caring what happens with Luffy and company.

That does not mean that it does not have its moments of action (after all, it is still One Piece), where we find several interesting fights accompanied by the trademark style of humor. But all this is in the background, especially if we compare it with his previous film, One Piece: Stampede.

In addition, the last third of the film becomes somewhat heavy, lengthening too much Luffy’s final confrontation with the villain on duty in a part that clearly has footage left overbeing able to dispatch in a more direct and enjoyable way.

If you are a fan of musical movies, then One Piece Film Red is a film that you will really like, since it has a pretty good soundtrack that you will play on a loop. Otherwise, you’ll probably prefer to feast on one of the other animes that are succeeding in japan.
