The Casa de la Juventud celebrates this Friday ‘The most geeky Christmas’ ·



The event, organized by the Millennial Cultural Association in collaboration with the Youth Delegation, includes workshops, raffles, board games, video game tournaments and a new edition of the Frikis Chimes

The Casa de la Juventud will host this Friday, December 30, the event ‘The most geeky Christmas 2022’, organized by the Millennial Cultural Association in collaboration with the Youth and Children’s Delegation of the Cádiz City Council.

This initiative, which will take place from 12:00 in the morning to 10:00 p.m. at the Casa de la Juventud de Cádiz, located at Calle Cánovas del Castillo, 41, combines alternative youth leisure and geek-themed activities children of the Christmas season.

Attendees will be able to do themed craft workshops, such as ‘Christmas Potions’, ‘Mini-Christmas Trees’ and ‘Magic Elves Ornaments’, as well as the already classic ‘Hama Beads Workshop’.

In addition, they will have the well-known Artist’s Corner, where cartoonists from the province such as Ángel Olivera, Chronicles of Momo, Demy, Laurart Draws or Kiara Momoi will exhibit and share their illustrations; as well as the El Dorado store, which will coordinate with their magical majesties to reserve the most geeky gifts that people have requested in their letters.

All the spaces of the Casa de la Juventud will house activities aimed at young people and children, where they can enjoy the most current video games and on different platforms, as well as a large playroom made up of more than 170 board games for all audiences.

In addition, various prize-winning tournaments and contests will be held; Hand in hand with Pacto del Loto, a Magic The Gathering tournament will be held in its Commander format. In addition, this collaborative association will demonstrate Magic and other collectible card games such as Final Fantasy, Digimon and One Piece, and the Warcry miniatures game, set in Warhammer: Age of Sigmar.

In the video game section, in addition to free play, attendees will be able to compete in tournaments for popular titles such as Super Smash Bros Ultimate, FIFA 23 (in its winter snow mode), Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Dragon Ball Fighter Z and Tekken 7.

In the ‘Board Games’ the participants will be able to proclaim themselves champions by participating in the Codex Naturalis, Unanimous Party (Christmas-themed) tournaments, the classic Carcassonne and the always successful Crokinole. There will also be a demonstration of Dobble XXL, the supersized version of this popular game for all ages.

On stage, visitors will have the opportunity to test their Christmas geek knowledge with a Kahoot trivia contest and challenge their visual memory with ‘Guess the character’, which they can play on their mobile phones.

The special moment of the event will take place from 6:00 p.m., when their Majesties the Frikis Magi from the East enter, who will receive the boys and girls who come to the Youth House with the intention of knowing firsthand hand your requests.

This initiative has a charitable purpose with the raffle of a very special basket. For each donation of breakfast food (especially sugar, coffee, muffins, sausages, margarine or pâté) a participation will be given for the draw for the ‘Great Millenary Basket’, which will be resolved at the end of the event. On this occasion, the donations will go to the Cadiz headquarters of Calor at night.

Given the success of previous editions and serving as a New Year’s Eve rehearsal, the event will culminate with the Geek Chimes to end the year and wish a ‘Happy Geek New Year’.

This is the sixth edition of this event, which has established itself as a Christmas date awaited by lovers of video games, board games and geek-themed entertainment.

Together with the Millenary Cultural Association and the Youth and Children’s Delegation of the Cádiz City Council, the conference has the collaboration of other entities such as Tierra Media, El Dorado and Pacto del Loto.
