We will have to wait a little longer to discover the actors in their respective roles, because this first video tackles the sets of the show.
For a long time, One Piece was just a manga by Eiichiro Oda, which told the story of Luffy, a young adventurer who dreams of becoming the Pirate King. Launched in 1997, the manga is still among the best sellers. The brand One Room has become so powerful that it now extends beyond paper. In addition to the anime, we find this universe in the future role play Odyssey and in a live-action Netflix series.
More real than life decorations
Highly anticipated (and feared) by fans, this adaptation remains very mysterious for the moment. But the Netflix Geeked Show organized by the SVOD giant (who revealed the release date of Tea Sandman) was the opportunity to discover the first images of his future live-action series. Lasting two minutes, the video is not a trailer, but rather a featurette to present the sets of the show. In the company of Iñaki Godoy, who will interpret Luffy as a reminder, we find the showrunners Steve Maeda and Matt Owens live from the film sets. This video allows us to see the work that was necessary to bring the ships in the series to life. If they are not visible here, several emblematic places of One Room will of course be present, such as Miss Love Duck or Vogue Merry.
In recent hours, the cast has grown with the announcements of Steven Ward (Dracule Mihawk), Alexander Maniatis (Klahadore), Craig Fairbrass (Chef Zeff), Langley Kirkwood (Morgan), Celeste Loots (Kaya) and Cgioma Umeala (Nojiko ). Alongside Luffy, the Straw Hat crew will consist of Mackenyu (Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Romero Gibson (Usopp), and Taz Skylar (Sanji). Its release date is still unknown, but we already know that the first season will consist of ten episodes and will retrace the “East Blue Saga” arc, i.e. the first 12 volumes of the manga.
A manga put on hiatus “to prepare for the final saga”
In addition to the series, the manga remains a very important topic for fans. Especially since the latter have just learned great news: Eiichiro Oda will take a one-month break to rest. A logical decision given the heavy workload in this environment, but which will result in a temporary interruption of One Piece during this period. It’s simple: no new chapter will be released between June 27 and July 25 on the Shueisha website. But this time, this break could be more symbolic than the previous ones. Because if this break should above all allow Oda to take a well-deserved vacation, he also thinks that it should allow the mangaka to prepare the ” One Piece Final Saga ».
A conclusion to the manga is inevitable after 25 years of loyal service, but that doesn’t mean it will happen in the next few months. It is enough to take example on the length of the last narrative arcs to have the heart net. That of ” Whole Cake Island » took place in nine volumes, a publication spread over more than two years. Currently being aired, the arc of ” Wa No Kuni » should reach 12 or 13 volumes, which would give a publication spread over nearly three years.
