A highly anticipated series
After Death Note and Dragon Ball Z, it’s another cult manga’s turn to have a live adaptation. One Piece, legendary work, and the most followed in the world will collaborate with the streaming giant, Netflix. If at the beginning, several people were skeptical, concerning the quality of the adaptation, the creator of the manga, Eiichirō Oda reassured fans asserting that the project was coherent.
Several actors like Emily Rudd (Nami) or Taz Skylar (Sanji) have already started to reveal behind the scenes of this huge project which is likely to divide, as One Piece is appreciated by a very critical public.

An XXL budget
We already know that the first season of the series will count 10 episodesabout 1 hour, each. Inevitably, given the importance of the project and the enthusiasm, it was normal to wonder about the budget. Netflix unveiled it, and the least we can say is that the American giant does not skimp on the means put in place. This is the first time that a series adapted live from a manga will have such a large budget.
Each episode will therefore have a budget of $10 million to appeal to the community. So there will be 100 million dollars invested in this series to go down in legend. It’s highly likely that Netflix made the decision to invest so much money in order not to disappoint fans and to deliver groundbreaking special effects. For comparison, this budget is similar to that of the Marvel film, Venom. It remains to be seen whether this will be enough to please the many One Piece fans.
