There will be live action of ‘One Piece’ with a Mexican protagonist!

Netflix continues to climb in the world of adaptations of Japanese animation series to live action, and this time it does so with its version of One Piece, which will star a Mexican: Iñaki Godoy.

According to Deadline, Godoy will play the main character of the plot: Monkey D. Luffy, and will be accompanied by artists such as Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero Gibson and Taz Skylar, in the roles of Roronoa Zoro, Nami, Usopp and Sanji. , respectively.

“We decided on this cast after numerous discussions involving people from all over the world! These are the people who will be our Straw Hat Pirates!” Said Eiichiro Oda, creator of One Piece and executive producer of the new one. project, in a statement to announce the cast.

The streaming gave the green light in January to the creation of a first season of 10 episodes, whose story will focus on Luffy, a young man who will embark on a journey to become the King of the pirates and thus find the famous treasure known as “ One Piece ”.

“We have worked with Netflix and Tomorrow Studios on the massive project that is the Hollywood adaptation of the live action series of One Piece! How many years has it been since it was announced, right? I know, I know!” Added Oda .

Steven Maeda and Matt Owens will co-write the production scripts, and will also serve as executive producers alongside Tomorrow Studios’ Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements.
