A piece finally joined the Toonami block last weekend, and Adult Swim celebrated the anime’s big comeback with a new special promo commemorating its premiere! The Adult Swim programming block has undergone a number of changes over the past few months as many older shows have ended their run and new series are added to the lineup. The pace is also picking up quickly over the next few weeks as Toonami will be adding even more shows, but many also didn’t expect to see some of the older hits make a comeback.
A piece hasn’t been part of the Toonami block since 2017, and word had been silent about his potential return. That was until Toonami revealed that they had repurchased the rights to the series and are now airing it as part of the Saturday night block. To celebrate their big comeback during the Saturday, January 29th broadcast, Toonami has dropped a special new promo that features a new upbeat track to re-introduce fans to Luffy and the Straw Hat Crew as they step into this new time. You can check it out below on Toonami’s official Facebook page.
Starting with One Piece Episode 517, the series is now gearing up for what is hopefully another long stint with Toonami. As with the rest of the current schedule, the block’s most recent line up breaks down as follows:
- 00h00 – Blade Runner : Lotus noir
- 00h30 – Assassination Classroom Saison 2
- 1h00 – Made in the abyss
- 1h30 – One room
- 2h00 – One room
- 2h30 – Naruto : Shippuden
- 03h00 – Naruto : Shippuden
- 3h30 – Cowboy Bebop
One Piece is far from the only new series joining Toonami in the near future, however, as the next major addition has already been scheduled. The next collaboration between Adult Swim and Crunchyroll will be heading to February. Shenmue the Animation will finally premiere after being first announced a few years ago. If this rhythm holds, Toonami will be back and swinging strong in no time.
What do you think? What do you think of One Piece’s return to Toonami? What other older shows would you like to see back on the block? What new shows would you like to see happen next?
