We were wondering if Jinbe’s late arrival in the Straw Hat Pirates crew isn’t just a strategic reason in terms of plot but also symbolic.
Luffy should always be the strongest Straw Hat, being the leader. And as we know, Luffy just learned how to use the advanced level of Armament Haki in Wano.
A principle of balance
If Luffy hadn’t learned advanced weaponry yet and Jinbe had joined him before, technically, Jinbe would have been the strongest person of the Straw Hats crew.
Now that he has unlocked Advanced Conqueror’s Haki and Awakened Gomu Gomu no Mi, Luffy is at a totally different power level than Jinbe and the other Straw Hats.
It should be noted that Sanji and Zoro also just got a power boost, which can be seen as a balance to add Jinbe to the Straw Hat Pirates crew.
Sanji was able to defeat ex Yonko Kaido’s second strongest commander.
In his fight against Queen, Sanji awakened the same genetic enhancements as his siblings, gaining an Exoskeleton and a superhuman physical constitution, including accelerated healing.
Sanji has become very fast to the point that he seemed to disappear in front of Queen just before attacking her and can apparently turn invisible without his raid suit. After completing his upgrades, Sanji displayed a far greater power in his fighting style, able to knock Queen down impressively and develop fighting techniques that would have been physically impossible for him to do before.
During the Wano Country arc, Sanji revealed the Ifrit Leg. It is the result of his awakening genetic enhancements combined with his Busoshoku Haki which increases his leg strength and stamina. With this new technique, Sanji’s legs can withstand much higher temperatures and are therefore able to generate much stronger flames, a feat he would have been unable to achieve without his new powers.
Zoro was able to defeat ex Yonko Kaido’s 1st Commander.
Zoro triggered the Conqueror’s Haki. He strengthens his “Kyutoryu: Asura” using the Conqueror’s Armament and Haki, which allows him to leave a permanent scar on the “Strongest Creature”: Kaido in his hybrid-dragon form.
He awakened the advanced Conqueror’s Haki, he was able to immediately use it to coat his attacks, analyzed King and defeated him in three hits.
