news culture After Bleach and Tokyo Revengers: should we fear the worst for the Attack on Titans final season part 3 on Disney+?
Absent (legally) from the simulcast catalog in France, the television adaptation of Bleach risks sharing the fate of other anime to come. Something that seems to be observed for Tokyo Revengers and the question of which arises for Attack on Titan.
- The fate of Bleach, the first step too far for Disney?
- Why could Attack on Titan be affected by the Disney deal?
The fate of Bleach, the first step too far for Disney?
It is for 2023 that the long-awaited epilogue of The attack of the Titans should find its way onto the small screen. It’s even a first poster that flips the brain which was broadcast by the official page of the television adaptation last November concerning the third and last part of this fourth and final season. Unfortunately, no release date has yet been specified and fans are likely longing to see a first trailer for the anime’s conclusion.
Never two without three ? This is the question that may arise at the beginning of January concerning the end of the adventures of Eren and company.
Indeed, it is the publishing house Kodansha (the largest in Japan for manga) which owns the rights to Hajime Isayama’s manga. However, the latter formalized in November its collaboration with The Walt Disney Company regarding the distribution of anime “on the world stage”. Something that has already been observed since the start of the 2022 school year, to the chagrin of French fans. This is for example the last narrative arc of Bleach, broadcast ten years after the last episodes, the rights of which were acquired by Mickey’s firm. Unfortunately, the latter decided (for reasons that still question today) not to simulcast it: a term used to refer to international simultaneous broadcasting after its original broadcast on television.
Why could Attack on Titan be affected by the Disney deal?
A Bleach initiative that made a lot of noise and seems about to repeat itself for the television adaptation of tokyo revenge. Ken Wakui’s manga, which is in second position of the best-selling manga in Japan between November 2021 and November 2022, is about to see its second season broadcast on November 7th. Unfortunately, no platform has yet announced the simulcast in France. Even Crunchyroll, broadcaster of season 1, did not communicate on this subject and tokyo revenge is absent from the Disney+ lineup for the month of January.
However, the manga The attack of the Titans was pre-published in the Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine. A monthly published by the publishing house… Kodansha. It is therefore likely that The Walt Disney Company via Disney+ wants to have a say in the international airing of part 3 of the anime’s fourth season. If the latter displays the same treatment as for Time Shadows, Bleach: The 1000 Year Blood War or season 2 of tokyo revengethen it is likely that the epilogue of AOT is not simulated in France.
We will therefore have to be on the lookout for simulcast announcements, even if the worst is to be feared in the coming months for fans of The attack of the Titanswhich some consider to be one of the best series of all time: witness the notes left by several spectators who put it on the same level as Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones.
