Darwin Jihen Winner of the 15th Manga Taisho Awards
This Monday, March 28, the executive committee of the prestigious awards Manga Taisho Awards has announced the winning work in its fifteenth edition. This year the award for best manga goes to Darwin Jihen from Shun Umezawaimposing itself on other works such as Look Back by Tatsuki Fujimoto Dandadan by Yukinobu Tatsu and oshi no ko by Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari. The work has been the winner with a total of 74 points6 points more than the second most voted manga, Look Back.
Shun Umezawa writes and illustrates this seinen manga by Darwin Jihen from June 25, 2020 on the pages of the magazine Monthly Afternoon from Kodanshastaying open today in Japan with 3 compilation volumes. The fourth volume will go on sale in the Japanese market next summer. The work was in tenth position in the ranking Kono Manga ga Sugoi! from Takarajimasha this year 2022 and won the excellence price in the 25th edition of the Japan Media Arts Festival.
The terrorist organization known as the Animal Liberation Alliance (ALA) attacked a biological research institute and rescued a pregnant chimpanzee. That chimpanzee gave birth to a “humanzee” (half human, half chimpanzee) named Charlie. After being raised by human parents for fifteen years, Charlie enters his first year of high school. There he meets the intelligent but socially misunderstood Lucy.
