Ruroni Kenshin to receive a new animated adaptation
During the celebration of the Jump Festa 2022, it was revealed that Ruroni Kenshin you will receive a new animated television adaptation produced by animation studio Liden Films (Tokyo Revengers). The announcement has been accompanied by a small promotional video of twenty seconds of duration and of the opening of the official account of the anime in Twitter. At the moment, more details are unknown about this new animated adaptation based on the work of Nobuhiro Watsuki.
The original manga of Rurouni Kenshin was first published in the magazine Weekly Shônen Jump in 1994 and ended with a total of 28 volumes. To date, the series also has an animated television adaptation with a total of 95 episodes, as well as an animated film, three OVAs, several live-action films, three video games, and a musical. Nobuhiro Watsuki, creator of this samurai story, also published a spin-off in 2014 titled Honō wo Suberu -Rurouni Kenshin: Uramaku-, focusing this on how they met Shishio Makoto Y Yumi Komagata, in addition to the current Rurouni Kenshin: Hokkaido Arc.
Watsuki began the publication of this new arc of Rurouni Kenshin in September 2017 in the magazine Jump SQ with his wife, the novelist Kaoru Kurosaki, as script assistant for the plot. However, it has been a work stained by the name of the mangaka, because shortly after starting serialization, he was charged with possession of child pornography and the publisher recommended a time of reflection and unpublished repentance. However, it should be noted that, despite the charges and the corresponding fine of 200,000 yen (€ 1,500, approximately) after verifying that he was a consumer of pornography, Watsuki was able to resume his career in January 2018. Currently, the work has six volumes compilations.
In Spain, the original manga of Kenshin, the samurai warrior was edited by Glénat editions/EDT, although after the break with Shueisha, the series passed into the hands of Panini Comics. Soon, the publisher will launch a new edition of the original series and will begin publishing the sequel. Both the television series, the OVAs, and the animated films based on the manga were edited by Select Vision in DVD and in BD, in the case of the original episodes. However, they are currently out of print.
