The live-action of Tokyo Revengers will arrive in Spain in 2022
During the presentation of Cineasia It has been revealed that the live-action of Tokyo Revengers will arrive in Spain in 2022. The live-action adaptation of Ken Wakui’s manga triumphed in theaters in Japan, becoming one of the highest grossing movies of this 2021 in the Japanese country; however, we will have to wait a little longer to learn more about the film in Spain. Likewise, they have advanced that something related to the series will be done.
This adaptation for the big screen of Tokyo Revengers it premiered in Japanese theaters on July 9, ranking number one at the Japanese box office on its first weekend. The premiere of the film was originally scheduled for October 9, 2020. However, due to the health crisis, this date had to be delayed. The film is directed by Tsutomu Hanabusa (Kakegurui, Miseinen dakedo Kodomo ja Nai), while the rock band SUPER BEAVER performs the main theme song of the feature film, the title song “Namae o Yobu yo”.
As for the original work, Ken Wakui’s manga began its publication in the magazine Weekly Shônen Magazine from the publisher Kodansha in March 2017. The work currently has a total of 24 compilation volumes for sale in Japan and more than 5 million copies in circulation, although currently it has just entered its final arc. In addition, the manga won the award of Best Shônen in the 44th edition of Kodansha Manga Award 2020. In Spain the manga comes from the hand of Editorial Standard, but it won’t until 12th of November.
In addition to this, the work has an animated adaptation that aired between April and September 2021 with a total of 24 episodes. The Liden Hatsumi studio (Deadman Wonderland, Gangsta) is in charge of project management, while Yasuyuki Muto (Deadman Wonderland) is the screenwriter. Kenichi Ohnuki (Golden Kamuy) was in charge of character design and Hiroaki Tsutsumi (Jujutsu Kaisen, Children of the Whales) of music composition.
