Every time an anime rises as one of the most popular of the season, there are always fans who begin to compare its success with those series that rose to fame months ago.
In order not to lose the habit, this time it was the turn in the ring of the gang members of ‘Tokyo Revengers’ and the wizards of ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’, openly confronting the story of Ken Wakui against that of Gege Akutami.
Of course, nowadays it is no longer enough to measure its popularity in MAL or Anilist, those who seek to know which is more relevant go directly to Google Trends to discover which are the most searched terms.
It is in this field where it was shown that the ToMan as of June has a clear advantage with more than 75 points on a scale of 100, while the Tokyo Metropolitan School is below 50.
The experiment was carried out in Otakumo’s Japanese entertainment page, leaving everyone impressed by the drastic leap that ‘Tokyo Revengers’ took in April 2021, when it began its first season.
A little more of the fighters
Currently, ‘Tokyo Revengers’ is in the second half of its first season, showing us the arc of the past of Kazutora and Bajin, two former members of the Tokyo Manji.
The manga began its publication in March 2017 under the title ‘Tokyo 卍 Revengers’ (‘Tokyo Revengers’) and continues in publication today through Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine.
For its part, ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ ended its first season in autumn 2020 with 24 episodes in total, made by the animation studio MAPPA and boosting the sales of the manga written and illustrated by Gege Akutami.
Although there is still no confirmation of its second edition, the team behind its realization announced that the next step in the franchise will be a prequel film, where we will see the past of Gojo, Getou, Inumaki, Maki and Panda.
