Tokyo Revengers release date
The second season of “Tokyo Revengers” is all but assured, and fans of the action anime can expect it to air sometime in mid to late 2022. The first season was completed quickly, and it is very possible that season 2 is already in the works but not yet recognized. Although the return of “Tokyo Revengers” seems like a safe bet for 2022, fans will most likely have to wait until early 2023 to see the second season.
What can we expect from the second season of Tokyo Revengers?
At the start of “Tokyo Revengers,” Takemichi is 26 and doesn’t have much going for him until he finds out that his ex-girlfriend, Hinata Tachibana, and her younger brother have been killed by the Tokyo Manji Gang.
Nakamichi is devastated, but when he is abruptly sent back 12 years, he has the opportunity to change everything.
Nakamichi takes advantage of the situation to warn Hinata, who is still alive when he returns to present time. Unfortunately, his actions had other unforeseen repercussions.
From then on, Takemichi is able to move back and forth between the present and the previous 12 years, doing everything he can to gain influence in Toman and prevent several terrible events from happening. The gang, meanwhile, is potentially unpredictable and dangerous, and Takemichi is clearly overwhelmed by events.
At the end of the first season, Takemichi learns he’s been chosen to command the First Division, which is fantastic news, but audiences are then left with a dramatic cliffhanger that puts Takemichi’s life in jeopardy. While it’s reasonable to assume Takemichi isn’t dead, Season 2 will most certainly pick up where Season 1 left off, with Takemichi in the middle of a dangerous storyline involving other members of the gang.
Ranking for the first season:
While Crunchyroll doesn’t reveal viewership numbers for simulcast titles, it’s easy to see just how popular Toman is around the world. Tokyo Revengers Season 1 got nearly 337,000 ratings on MyAnimeList, an incredible rating of 8.25/10.
Season 2 is yet to be announced, but a new plot is expected.
In December 2021, the creators of the anime showed off a new trailer during the Jump Festa event. According to Comic Book, “Tokyo Revengers” will feature the manga’s Christmas Showdown arc. An explosive cliffhanger from the anime’s first season is mixed with footage of the series’ protagonists getting ready for the Christmas action.
The arc features a confrontation between Takemichi’s gang, Tokyo Manji (aka Toman), and the opposing Black Dragon gang. Toman member Hakkai Shiba asks Takemichi to go back in time to stop his older brother, Black Dragon leader Taiju Shiba from abusing his younger brothers on Christmas Eve. It will not be easy for Takemichi to forget his story.
However, it’s still unclear if the plot of Christmas Showdown will be incorporated into a future 2nd season or turned into a separate movie or new OVA series.
