Unstoppable Tokyo Revengers! The series reaches a new record with its manga | Liden Films
Tokyo Revengers managed to capture the hearts of thousands of Japanese with the first season of its animated version. With this success, the work of Ken Wakui began to climb sales of his volumes after a few weeks of his anime premiered in April of this year.
Today it was announced that the series has managed to reach 35 million copies in circulation in Japanese territory. This figure includes both print and digital sales and launches, so little by little the series approaches the record in sales of famous works such as Sailor Moon, Nanatsu no Taizai and Saint Seiya.
Let us remember that with the increase in sales that Wakui’s work achieved in the months of April and May, it was able to place itself in the third position in sales of best-selling sleeves in the middle of the year in 2021, being surpassed only by Kimetsu no Yaiba and Jujutsu Kaisen.
However, as the months have passed, the ToMan manga has managed to bridge the gap it had with respect to the first places, making fans of the series think that it is possible at least to stay with second place. in sales this year.
On the other hand, the success of this series has been a great respite for the Kodansha publishing house, since a few months ago Shingeki no Kyojin, its strongest work in sales, came to an end, leaving the company without its most famous representative in the Oricon sales rankings.
In addition, two weeks ago Tokyo Revengers surpassed the sales record that Shingeki no Kyojn had achieved in 2013, becoming Kodansha’s biggest success in the last ten years. We will have to wait for the end of the year ranking to know the total sales that the series had and discover if it managed to at least exceed the sales of the success of the industry at the time, Kimetsu no Yaiba.
